The Internet Grammar of English is an online course in English grammar. It provides the introducton of word classes, phrase, sentences and clauses, form and function, and functions in phrases. It also provides many excerises. In this website, you can choose one part to learn and you can get the knowledge clearly.

In this website, you can learn vocabulary in special way. When you do the test, you have to see the pictures to choose the right answers. If you choose the wrong answer, it can show you the right answer and let you do the question again at last. It combines with six levels.

Technology in classroom~~~cons

Today I want to discuss the topic about the technology in class.
About the curriculum, teacher may be difficult to find proper material to teach, teacher has to consider the age and conditions of student and so on. In Taiwan, teacher usually prepares pen and paper test for student in typical class so the integration with technology about exam is less and limited. And the access to computer, if teacher encounters the conditions that the student is older and lack computer literacy or some students have no computer at home, teacher will have a big challenge to teach and sometimes has to help student overcome the frustration to computer. Technology is costly because it needs the integration that computer, software, training, support. Therefore the elimination rate of computer or requirement about technology is higher. Then about the time problem, teacher has to spend much time to prepare materiel and familiar with how to use technology application. Teacher and students will have a period of time to adapt to way of teaching and learning by technology. The time of operation also often influence the class pace.
In fact, I do not agree teaching and learning are whole computerization. I think the interaction between teacher and student is important and interesting. Sometimes maybe you can know how to use the online information to get what you want but something you can not get by computer such as conversation with your act to another people because you just face a computer. Moreover, we learn knowledge from real people that can make us more understand and solve what we do not understand by communication each other. For some learner, though they have computer literacy, we don’t sure if they have the strong motivation to learn something by computer. Therefore in class students can increase learning motivation by discussion, presentation or interaction each other and so on. Facing real thing can let us feel ourselves exist.

Today I want to discuss the computer literacy. Computer literacy has some characteristics comprise PC operation, the use of Email, word professor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, Groupware and Database access. Nowadays most people have computer literacy and have basic understanding to computer.

Today I want to introduce the website is British Council that I think it is a good place. In here, I found it is a place that anyone wants to learn English can want to come in and touch. This website has four parts including Learn English center, Learn English kids, teaching English and Search English. It involves so wide that I think different kinds of people no matter you are teacher, kids, student or adults etc. all can find useful information in here.
The part of ‘Learn English kids” is the first one I want to talk about. This part that we can choose different kinds of topic to learn and practice such as game, song, stories and writing really suits for kids. The theme ‘Play and learn” in game, it is not only a game but also you can learn some knowledge. It uses many pictures and animations so I think it can be easy to attract kids to learn. When kids want to sing the song, they can play a game first then ready to sing. The interesting thing is that kids can make their own story in the part of “story maker”. I think this part can make kids increases more creativity. In fact, I also do the” story maker “and I think the feeling is special because I can make the story belongs to me. Moreover it has many contents that you can print out to teach if you need so in here you can find many materials about teaching. In my experience of learning English, teaches seldom use the CALL to teach and the opportunity that I get the information about online learning is less from school. Therefore after I watched this website, I think the kids are felicitous now because they can use many interesting tools to learn English.

speaking 1

I want to introduce a website EyeSpeak. In this place, we can practice the speaking skill but the drawback is not free so I downloaded the trial version. I found it was not bad. The trial version combines with three parts are beginner, intermediate and advance. The three parts all involve assessment, theme and sound lessons. In theme, it contains sentence, words, role play, vocabulary and listening. In the word part and vocabulary, you also can learn the definition. Then in the assessment and the theme, after you practice the speaking with the teacher, you can check your pronunciation, pitch, timing and loudness. In sound lessons, you can select the phoneme that you can not pronounce well to practice.
After I tried it, I think it can help me to correct my articulation. But I feel a little bit bored because I have to face computer to practice. If I can practice with real people, I think it will be more fun.

The podcast this term is from the combination of iPod and broadcast. Podcast uses the function of enclosure in RSS 2.0 to let listeners or audiences can directly link and download the audio file. Podcast is that audio files that can be download automatically from internet and users can get the latest information by subscribing the podcast feed from others. Then you can deliver the content you like to iPod or any portable media player such as cell phone, MP3player and PDA by podcast so you can listen to the audio content at any moment. The podcast is usually stored in MP3 format thus you also can listen to the content on any computer. When you make your podcast, your content can be multiple such as music, radio show, interview, kuso show. Anything you want to show can be put on this platform.



Though this video is short, it uses the simple and clear picture to show what is the podcast. Therefore when I looked at it, I can not reject to watch it and I can get the basic notion but not confused.

I learned some useful web information sources in class this week. I still felt open-eyed to the class because I did not know these information before. Now I knew how to use the social bookmarking service: del.icio.us. The special place is you can use bookmark on Internet at any moment. Teacher also introduced the pen of dictionary in yahoo. It has the good that we can not only know the explanation of the word but also listen to the pronunciation at the same time. Though I can look some information in , I really did not note this service. Many useful things are around me but I just neglect them so I learn how to keep for the useful tool by this class. The last thing was I learned how to put the video in the blog. I think in this class I can find out a lot of treasures.

Expectation

I major in English at Providence University.Though I major English linguistic, I am still interested in the English teaching. So I want to introduce some interesting information and website about English and make people to be easier to learn English this language . According to my experiences, it was usually boring that I learned English at school before I entered into University so how to increase the interests of learning English is important. I think learning English should be in an soft environment and you do not have to worry your grade is high or low. Then I want to provide a space that can let people enjoy and throw away the trouble. Moreover now it is Internet era thus we can use Internet to find the benefic information easily. I hope I can try my best to built this blog and learn how to search the useful information to me and the person who need.
